Disney Wonder

Back at the end of February we got to go on a cruise with my family! My mom really wanted to try a Disney Cruise, especially with us bringing Ella along, so we flew to Florida and set sail out of Miami on the Disney Wonder for a 5 day cruise! Our stops included Disney's Island: Castaway Cay, Bahamas, Key West, Florida and Miami.

I'm gonna be honest, after our experience, I DO NOT recommend cruising with a 15 month old. Overall, Ella did not have a very good time and she was pretty traumatized by the end of the cruise. Not to mention that Me and Kyle missed out on a lot of the entertainment because we had to stay in the room after Ella went down for the night, usually around 7pm. But we did have a lot of fun moments, and made some great memories with my family.

The beautiful Atlantis Resort.
We spent our day in the Bahamas here.
Checking out the Aquarium

Relaxing by the Sun Pool.
When we first got to the resort we checked out the aquarium, then we hit up some water slides and the lazy river a couple times. For lunch we had some yummy fried fish and then we relaxed by this beautiful pool and read books/took naps, it was a great day!

My little family.
Ella was very upset that she couldn't join the other kids in the pools, but on cruise ships swim diapers are not allowed, children have to be fully potty trained to swim, so she cried every time we went up to the deck and didn't allow her to join in the fun:(

My fun and attractive:) brother and sister-in-law

Outside of the nursery where we took Ella while went on excursions/ate dinner.
This is one of the main reasons why Ella left the cruise traumatized, The experience of being left in the nursery, turned my happy to be social and interact with anyone toddler, to a clingy clingy momma's girl.
Our final stop was Key West Florida and my family had signed up to do a biking tour of the city, but because Ella was so clingy and upset I ended up just staying on the ship with her, and we spent the day just walking around and around a couple of the floors making sure to stay far away from the pools so she wouldn't get upset that she couldn't get in:/
Since I stayed on the ship though, I was also hoping that since I could put Ella down in the room as opposed to the nursery that she would be able to get a good nap in (something that hadn't happened the entire cruise which caused her to be over tired and cranky) but thanks to the ship making IN-cabin announcements every 20 mins for 2 hours straight about immigration and customs that didn't happen grrr...

Outside of one of the restaurants we ate at on the ship.
The food on Disney was nothing special, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.
The food on our Princess Cruise was a lot more impressive. But it was still fun to go to the restaurants and order a bunch of different courses and dishes each night.

This is the only picture we have of the entire group, so don't mind the glare in the middle of my face:)

Back in Miami at our hotel, Ella was very into the big window. And as I was trying to change her into her swimsuit she kept running back over to it haha.
I have to say I was relieved to be off the ship and back on land and was looking forward to a good night's sleep in our hotel before catching our flight in the morning. But the excitement wasn't over yet--the fire alarm went off at 4:30 in the morning, causing our 25 floor hotel to be evacuated! It ended up being a false alarm, but it was a full hour before we were back in our rooms.

Captain Sparrow was on the Island that day too!

  1. Well, that sounds like the cruise from he** haha! The pictures are gorgeous though!! That's pretty lame they don't let kids swim with swim diapers. Doesn't that exclude like half the kids on the cruise from the pool?! Also, I like how you had to mention your brother's shower pic was taken by his wife. haha!
