got grit?

this past summer in choteau we also did a mud run. it was pretty entertaining to all dress up and watch my relatives run this race and do the obstacles (or attempt to do the obstacles). the girls payed homage to our heritage and we dressed as viking women, long braids and all. and the men payed homage to the fact the uncle lars lives in vegas and has access to all kinds of elvis gear.

kyle left me behind in the dust, and actually RAN the race, he came in first out of all my family and came in 21st overall! my baby has got some speed!

now this was a country race, so our obstacles included hay bales, lots of hay bales, mud, dirt, creeks, running through the bed of a truck, wheeling a wheelbarrow full of manure around a barn, running up and down a hill of asphalt, the worst: the culvert, basically crawling through that long tunnel under the bridge on our hands and knees in the creek, and lots more!

all dressed up and ready to get dirty!

love those chops!

the ladies got off to a slower start...

look at my man go!

uggghh the dreaded culvert

my 6'5 brother after coming out of that tunnel!

my cousin josh dove into the mud pit!

me and amanda showing off our mad skills

haha my mom trying to "jump" over the fence

the boys were already done, so they
came back to cheer us on through the bear crawl

my mom gave up a little bit on the crawl part

aunt jenny!

we finished!

so my mom and aunts approach the mud pit and
aunt karla does not like what she sees....

so once the other ladies are in, she sprints off!!
haha this picture kills me!

one aunt is cleaner than the others

the whole dirty group!

grandpa and the ladies!

still feels like summer here

apparently it's now fall. but you can't tell here in houston, it still looks and feels just the same! And since it still feels like summer here i'm gonna go ahead and blog about some things we did over the summer.

first up: choteau montana

i love choteau. i blogged about is last year too. my parents are both from this adorable little town and i've been visiting here since i was a baby. pretty much every fourth of july my mom's side of the family gets together in choteau.

the parade:

me and kyle in front of THE gas station

my cousin katie and her adorable daughter madysen and aunt roxanne
madysen was awesome at getting floats to throw candy and toys at her!

my mormon family always stands in front of the catholic church on parade day,
 its just our spot

my wonderful sister-in-law amanda

dad, aunt julie, aunt karla, mom, uncle jack

main street

my grandma and a couple cousins were on this float

two of my uncles and two of my cousins randomly decided they wanted to be in the parade that morning so they donned elvis costumes, grabbed their bikes and joined in! haha only in a small town

the golf:

every year we golf. it's great fun. but there's a lot of us and it's a big course. so we divided into groups this year and after about 3 hours my group (headed by my mom) decided we were ready for lunch so we walked off the course with 2 holes still remaining and walked 5 mins down the hill to my grandparent's house and ate lunch and goodies until the others joined us.

i love the mountains in the background

some of the group. we let the little kids drive the carts around for fun.
