- aaand urban challenge utah

this past saturday kyle and i competed in urban challenge utah. it was put on by the make a wish foundation as a fundraiser and was a sort of a mini-amazing race around salt lake city. we were very excited about it, but unfortunately we weren't very well prepared. the description on the website made it seem that anyone would be able to do it and it wouldn't be very physically challenging and that you could walk, bike, or use public transit.

the race started at 10am and we had 5 hours (until 3pm) to complete 10 challenges,  and since we didn't have bikes, we decided to walk. yeeeaaaah we spent an average of 45 minutes walking to each challenge which meant that by 2:30 we had only completed 7/10, we spent way to much time wandering around salt lake in the hot sun trying to figure out where the different locations were. which brings me to our biggest disadvantage: not having a smart phone. at the end of the day two of the officials informed us that we were the only team that hadn't had a smart phone. other teams were able to google locations, directions, and answers to some of the puzzles and questions, whereas me and kyle had to call friends to look stuff up for us, walk into businesses and ask for directions and ask other contestants for help which slowed us down a ton.

by the 3pm deadline we were only able to complete 8/10 challenges and my legs and feet were totally destroyed. but overall it was pretty fun, the challenges included movie trivia, a planet puzzle, utah jazz trivia (which we totally rocked), a bootcamp challenge, playing with firehoses, dressing up in hockey gear, downing cafe rio salsa, and a couple others that we weren't able to get to. it was a good experience, and if i ever do anything like it again i will definitely be better prepared. but i sure loved spending time with my teammate!

Frere Poulsen

Kyle has been a teacher at the mtc for about a year and a half now. he teaches french and tahitian to missionaries going to tahiti and his students LOOOVE him! Kyle often brings home cards&notes from his missionaries thanking him and telling him how much they love him, and even more often he brings home treats, candy, chips, corned beef, chocolate covered macadamia nuts and all kinds of goodies that his missionaries give him! and last week he got his first candy bar poster, it was so cute that i took a picture. so here's to brother poulsen--best mtc teacher!

Ahoy! Fr. Poulsen there are many reasons (reeses) why we love you. you helped us during our crunch time. you let us take 5 petit pauses. we had skittles of fun. u-no your #1. love the 3 musketeers laffy taffy, beef jerkey, and starburst

yep i had one happy husband! and the weekend got off to a great start when my dad arrived thursday night with 2 new additions for our living room. comfy leather recliners! like i said, i had one happy husband, and these days, if he's home, he's in his new chair!

my parents are moving next month from canada to texas, so they've been selling/giving away a lot of their possessions, and they offered us their recliners! even though our apartment is a little squished now, its definitely worth it! thanks mom&dad!

color me yours

about a year ago me and Kyle went on a double date with my brother and his then fiancee Amanda to color me mine. it was our first time there and we had a blast painting our oversized mugs and those mugs are definitely our most used dishes!

a week and a half ago we decided the four of us needed to go back to color me mine before Chris and Amanda move to El Paso, where Amanda begins medical school in July.

well, since our last date to color me mine, Chris and Amanda have gotten married, me and Kyle have gotten married, Amanda got a great lab job, I graduated from dental hygiene school, and Chris graduated from BYU!

so much has changed in the last year, but not color me mine. the four of us still had a great time and now me and Kyle have cool glasses for the fruit smoothies we always make on the weekends!

one year ago--both our mugs said kyle + liz

our new smoothie cups--isn't kyle's palm tree awesome?!
