sunday is for eating

i love food. and today was such a great food day. we started the morning off right, i made yummy homemade biscuits while kyle fried up some sausage and eggs and then we put it all together--soooo good!! our church is from 12:30-3:30 so we didnt have any lunch, but that just made dinner even better...

our friends cassie and blake had us over for dinner, along with another couple in the ward and they went all out! they made these really delicious enchiladas w/ warm shredded chicken, cilantro, spicy sauce, and a healthy, fresh-tasting salad, and then the seven layer dip w/guacomale, green onions, olives, sour cream, cheese mmmm.....and i brought over a fruit salad. we stuffed our faces for about an hour before heading back to the church for game night. we had a blast playing charades (even though the guys beat smoked the girls) and afterwards...TREATS!! we had cookies, brownies, ice cream snicker bars, ice cream milky way bars, ice cream drusmsticks, fudgecicles, sundae bars and more!!

i may have created a food baby (which means i look pregnant, but its not a baby in there, just food) but it was worth it! i am still in a happy food coma state and its been hours!! ahhhh, happy sunday!

friday bike ride

on friday kyle and i went on a bike ride! i've been asking to go all summer, and since kyle is now done with his classes, we finally had time! so friday morning we headed to byu, where we rented a couple of mountain bikes. then we biked from byu to provo canyon and then UP the canyon! it was definitely a workout but a ton of fun too!

we biked all the way to bridal veil falls where we took a break and ate our lunch. we had a yummy little picnic of sandwiches and fruit. then after cooling off by the falls it was time to go back down. going down the canyon was a blast!

we spent the rest of the afternoon on our couch trying to rest our very sore bootys (and they're still recovering from the super hard & tiny bike seats!)

we've been having a lot fun with our friends krystal and jesse this summer. krystal is my friend from hygiene school and she and her boyfriend jesse are a ton of fun to hang out with! so far we've done a campfire with hotdogs and marshmallows, had a lasagna dinner and played games, went mini-golfing and got frozen yogurt, and this past weekend we celebrated pioneer day together!

on friday the four of us went to the days of '47 rodeo up in salt lake. me and krystal both hated the events with the baby cows. they were so cruel! the cowboys would lasso the baby cows and and then snap the rope around their neck so they hit the ground, then they would jump off their horses run over to the cow, body slam it, and then tie up all their legs. one of the poor calfs had like mini seizure and couldn't get up again. so sad:(
but the bronco riding and bull riding was fun to watch. and at the end they had the motorcross guys come and do some pretty cool jumps and tricks.

then on saturday night we headed over to mapleton to see the best fireworks show EVER! seriously. it was awesome! the finale alone included about 100 fireworks going off in 3minutes. yep insane!

and in between the two events me and kyle hiked the Y! since kyle finished his last final tuesday we've been trying to get back in to shape! we've been playing tennis, working out at the gym, swimming, hiking, and going on walks! hopefully we can keep it up when kyle starts school again!

i got my hygiene license in the mail june 2nd. and then june was the longest month of my life. I signed up with 2 different dental temp agencies that promised to get me some work (and i still continue to call and hound them for work and nada). I printed off copies of my resume and went around to all the dental offices in the area and handed it out in person, and i applied to any sort of hygiene job i could find. despite all my efforts i got nothing. not one phone call. not one temp job. not one e-mail. not one interview. and not one day of work. it was frustrating, discouraging, and depressing.

then july came. after our awesome july 4th weekend away, i came home on july 5th to a call for an interview. the next day i got another call for an interview and that day i had my first interview for a hygienist job. the next week i got a call for a temp job from my friend and the day after that i worked my first day as a dental hygienist:) the next week i had 2 interviews for hygiene jobs. the next week i worked for a day at another office and had my 2nd day working as a hygienist--they paid me on the spot and that same day my check from my first temp job came in the mail:) and this week i have a working interview on tuesday and i'm working for another office on thursday!

it took a while but things are finally happening. slowly. but their happening.

i walked into the operatory and the patient was a guy around my age. they had tvs in the room so he was switching the channels and found one he liked.
guy: "do you wanna watch enemy of the state with me?" (i have to clean his teeth so whatever he chooses to watch while i'm in there means i "watch" it too)
me: "haha sure"
guy: "are you married or single?"
me: "i'm married"
guy: "aww thats too bad, i was gonna say that this could count as our first date."
me: "ohh yah sorry..."

...awkward silence...

me: "okaayy go ahead and open for me..."

Danielle's Bridal Shower

a couple weeks ago we had danielle's bridal shower at my apartment. danielle and i have been friends since freshman year at BYU, we've been through so much together and we have so many great memories. she was a bridesmaid at my wedding last august, and this august i get to be one of hers! 

it was so fun to get together with old friends, catch-up, and celebrate with danielle! we had a breakfast shower w/ delicious caramel french toast, scones, fresh fruit, and juice. we also played a little game where a bunch of guys including her fiance came over for a few minutes and blindfolded danielle had to feel all their legs and decide which ones belonged to jordan! 

we all had a great morning together and i'm so excited for danielle's wedding in less than a month in california!!

fourth of july

i love the fourth of july! every year my mom's side of the family does a reunion in montana over the fourth, which means i've spent almost every fourth of july there since i was born!

both of my parents are from the same small town in northern montana, which means that all of my grandparents live there, 2 sets of aunts and uncles, 1 great aunt and uncle, and lots and lots of cousins! whenever i go there it feels a little bit like going home. i spent my childhood summers there, going to the community pool, the drugstore for penny candy, the movie theater (which only shows 1 movie a week and only on friday and saturday), the library, the golf course, hikes in the mountains,playing with my cousins, i took horseback riding lessons there, i learned to drive there, i rode on floats in the parade, me and my cousins would float down the creek in inner tubes, bottlerocket wars in the hay fields--so many good times!

and this year i got to take kyle with me!! this is how we spent our weekend: golf, ice cream parlor, buying fireworks, games with the family, really good food, playing minute to win it girls vs guys, independence day parade, snowcones, bbq, going to the pond and playing with water dynamite, jet skiing at euerka lake, shooting clay pigeons + gophers, and of course fireworks!!!

it was the perfect weekend and i loved spending time with my extended family!
