fourth of july

i love the fourth of july! every year my mom's side of the family does a reunion in montana over the fourth, which means i've spent almost every fourth of july there since i was born!

both of my parents are from the same small town in northern montana, which means that all of my grandparents live there, 2 sets of aunts and uncles, 1 great aunt and uncle, and lots and lots of cousins! whenever i go there it feels a little bit like going home. i spent my childhood summers there, going to the community pool, the drugstore for penny candy, the movie theater (which only shows 1 movie a week and only on friday and saturday), the library, the golf course, hikes in the mountains, playing with my cousins, i took horseback riding lessons there, i learned to drive there, i rode on floats in the parade, me and my cousins would float down the creek in inner tubes, bottlerocket wars in the hay fields--so many good times!

and this year i got to take kyle with me!! this is how we spent our weekend: golf, ice cream parlor, buying fireworks, games with the family, really good food, playing minute to win it girls vs guys, independence day parade, snowcones, bbq, going to the pond and playing with water dynamite, jet skiing at euerka lake, shooting clay pigeons + gophers, and of course fireworks!!!

it was the perfect weekend and i loved spending time with my extended family!
